Effect of Transient Weightlessness on Binocular Depth Perception.
نویسنده
چکیده
Future space missions may have a requirement for critical distance judgements in performing rendezvous, docking and landing procedures. Since correlation between visual acuity and depth perception is high, depth perception might be adversely affected by transient weightlessness. The experiments reported here were conducted in a zero-G airplane to test the hypothesis, and, although the transitions from 2 G to 0 G and 0 G to 2 G tended to produce adverse effects on depth perception, statistical analysis of the data indicated that the effects were not significant. Figure 1 shows the testing apparatus mounted in the JC-131B airplane.

Effect of Experimentally Induced Anisometropia on Binocular Vision Studied by Pattern Reversal Visual Evoked Potentials
Optimal binocular vision is associated with depth perception and enhancement of certain other aspects of vision. Binocular interaction can, however, be compromised when one of the monocular inputs is altered in conditions like anisometropia. We aimed to evaluate the effects of interocular refractive differences, electrophysiologically, by recording transient pattern reversal visual evoked poten...

Background : To determine the effect of binocular summation on the time domain transient VEP wave's components. Methods : The monocular and binocular transient visual evoked potentials of 21 normally vision volunteers 18 to 24 years (mean ± SD, 20.7 ± 1.9) during a reversing checkerboard stimulus with spatiotemporal frequency of 2.18-4 cpd-Hz were recorded. The amplitude and latency of N75,...
متن کاملBINOCULAR DISPARITY AND DEPTH CUE OF LUMINANCE CONTRAST Investigation of Perceptual Influence of Binocular Disparity on Depth Effect of Luminance Contrast through Stereo Display
Luminance contrast has been identified as an effective depth cue through perceptual studies using digital images generated by the integrated technologies of physically based lighting simulation and perceptually based tone mapping. However, the prior established framework utilizes a single camera viewpoint, failing to address the binocular vision of the human visual system. In this study, the co...

Bufo bufo, Depth Perception, Prey Catching Behaviour, Eye Accommodation, Monand Binocularity Distance estimation in prey catching was as exact in monocular toads (Bufo bufo (L.)) as in binocular ones. Application of Atropine or Miotic® had no significant effect on binocular animals, whereas in monocular toads it made accurate distance estimation impossible. The accom modative state of the eye ...
متن کاملA comparative study of fine depth perception on two-view 3D displays
In this paper we investigate human binocular depth perception on 3D electronic display technologies. Our study is motivated by the increasing use of 3D displays in applications, including geo-science and medicine, where critical decisions are made using fine binocular depth judgements. We predict subject performance for a depth judgement task using published specifications for seven different 3...
